Professional resumes are the hardest things to write while remaining professional.  One tip offered by various recruiters, is to leave certain words out of your resume.  Here's a good starter list.

  • Aggressive
  • Ambitious
  • Competent
  • Creative
  • Detail-oriented
  • Determined
  • Efficient
  • Experienced
  • Flexible
  • Goal-oriented
  • Hard-working
  • Independent
  • Innovative
  • Knowledgeable
  • Logical
  • Motivated
  • Meticulous
  • People person
  • Professional
  • Reliable
  • Resourceful
  • Self-motivated
  • Successful
  • Team player
  • Well-organized
  • The use of the above words tends to diminish the desire to elaborate, as they all seem to say it all, without saying much.

You're better off writing specific examples of why these words apply to you.
