Dania Marine Flea Market® to Celebrate 30th Anniversary
South Florida Institution Returns March 6 – 9 at Dolphin Stadium
[VEGAS BUZZ NEWS NETWORK - February 27, 2008 - Hollywood FL] Over the past thirty years, the Dania Marine Flea Market has become synonymous with a boating bargain bonanza. While the complexion and location of the Marine Flea Market have changed over the years, one thing has remained constant; private individuals and corporate vendors sell used marine equipment, coral encrusted antiques, boats, fishing tackle, diving gear, marine artwork and other boating related items at unbelievably low prices.
The 30th Edition of the Dania Marine Flea Market will take place March 6th through 9th at Dolphin Stadium. The Stadium’s South Interior Parking Area will have over 1200 vendor spaces occupied by manufacturers, distributors, dealers and private individuals from across North America. The Dolphin Stadium location provides all visitors to the Marine Flea Market acres of free parking close to the bargains.
Mark Wichenhauser described the 2007 Dania Marine Flea Market as, “Awesome! We sold all of the used boats that we had for sale.” Dale Weatherstone of Raritan Engineering said, “We sold-out of icemakers in less than three days!” Reverso Pumps’ Jim Gerum said, “We sell factory reconditioned pumps for a fraction of their original cost and the Flea Market’s atmosphere makes it fun for everyone.” John Edelmann of Traditional Marine from Nova Scotia stated, “I believe our good sales are, in large measure, due to our bargain pricing and the Marine Flea Market’s great location at Dolphin Stadium. Our customers rave about the convenient, free parking.” West Marine reported record sales for the four day event selling nearly 600 pallets of merchandise.
According to Al Behrendt, originator of the Marine Flea Market, “The Dania Marine Flea Market is unique because it provides a pleasant, almost party-like, atmosphere for buyer and seller to engage in friendly and, sometimes, intense ‘bargaining.’ Thousands of boating related items are bought and sold through a system of dickering and dealing at a fraction of their retail value.”
Jennifer Dudas, Marine Flea Market general manager and vice president of Al Behrendt Enterprises said, “Marine related businesses nationwide have come to rely upon the Dania Marine Flea Market to provide an outlet for overstocked and used items as well as ‘scratch and dent’ articles or articles that are obsolete as a result of model or design changes. These items cannot be sold through normal channels; therefore, boat owners, fisherman, divers and anyone with an interest in things nautical, find the Marine Flea Market to be a bargain hunter's dream-come true.”
Since its modest beginning in 1979 with only fifty-six vendors, the Dania Marine Flea Market has grown to become the largest event of its type in the world. After 27 very successful years at the Dania Jai Alai fronton, the Marine Flea Market moved to Dolphin Stadium in 2006. The larger Dolphin Stadium location means more vendors and an even broader selection of articles essential to the enjoyment of the boating lifestyle. Without a doubt, when you look through the aisles of the Marine Flea Market, you will find antique ships’ clocks displayed next to state-of-the-art electronics. New and used SCUBA gear finds its place in a booth with outboard motors and marine artwork. Need a replacement prop? You can find hundreds - new and used in all sizes at giveaway prices. From anchors (a) to zinc collars (z), there are literally acres of incredible deals and huge savings for the whole family at the Dania Marine Flea Market.
The parking lots open at 8:00 AM, one hour before the Marine Flea Market opens to the public at 9:00 AM each morning. Tickets can be purchased on the premises at either of two entrances beginning at 8:00 AM. Closing time is 6:00 PM Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 4:00 PM on Sunday.
The Dania Marine Flea Market and Dolphin Stadium are easily accessible being only minutes from the Florida Turnpike, University Drive and I-95 on Ives Dairy Road.
