Ted Kennedy Endorsement of Obama

Visualize this scene a couple of days after Obama beat Hillary Clinton in South Carolina. We are in the Kennedy compound in Massachusetts and like a fly on the wall, we're looking at Senator Ted Kennedy and some of his relatives, plus old friends Bill and Hillary Clinton seated at the end of a large table in the Kennedy library.

Ted is addressing the group. "Hillary, we're sorry that Obama beat you in South Carolina but the old cliché, 'If you can't sell the oranges, make orange juice' is appropriate at this time."

Bill. "What do you mean Ted?"

I think niece Caroline should answer your question.

Caroline, "Mr. President, I have to answer your question with a question. Why don't we endorse Mr. Obama?"

After the uproar and some serious cogitation, there is a pregnant silence. Bill, the superior political strategist shines the bright light on the group.

Bill, "There you go. Out of the mouth of babes, the kiss of political death. Good thinking, Caroline. You will have a great political future."

Ted, "Awesome, Caroline. Awesome."

Hillary, "After Caroline makes her surprise announcement, Ted can very publicly announce a follow-up endorsement of Obama."

Ted, "I'll make the announcement tomorrow."

And so the stage is set for a Hillary landslide for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
