LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - October 14, 2004 - Gallery Las Vegas  and Cheflive.com joined together to throw a magnificent party to benefit the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation on Thursday night.  Among the three hundred guests were celebrities such at Robin Leach and Bill Acosta of Lasting Impressions.  Also in attendance were media personalities Ted Pretty, Channel 5 News weatherman and Jerry Fink of the Las Vegas Sun.

According to Paula Luge'e, Director of Gallery Las Vegas, a different charity will be sponsored every month.  On November 12th there will be a wine tasting with all the artists showcased in the Gallery and a Silent Auction to benefit Hospice on November 13th between 12:00 and 4:00 PM.

These parties are a must attend for those who love the feeling of community that only the combination of soul inspiring art, excellent food and wine combined with helping a worthy cause can evoke.  In true spirit of the art world, dress was anywhere from casual to beautiful women in evening gowns and all of it blended together in a fine symphony.

The music masterfully played on acoustic guitar by Robby LeBlanc set the mood for a lively evening of entertainment.  Ryan Jordan the Manager at Tinoco Bistro, was on hand to oversee the catering.  Tinoco Bistro is famous for their Italian continental cuisine with heavy California influence.  We enjoyed filet mignon and chicken breast prepared by Prime Time Meat Market with our choice of lemon butter cream sauce, wild mushroom demiglaze and picatta mushroom capers in white wine sauce.  Chef Enrique Tinoco who was educated in the kitchen started his career at sixteen years old cleaning hoods and doing dishes.  Within one year he worked his way up to line cook and was a Sous Chef by age twenty.  He was Executive Chef of Mum's in Long beach California for ten years before moving to Las Vegas in 1994 to open his first Tinoco Bistro.  You may enjoy their fine cuisine at 310 E. Warm Springs Rd. Phone 263-7880 or 103 E. Charleston Blvd. Phone 464-5008.

Chef  John Guinivere, who founded Cheflive.com , mingled with guests proving that his motto is 'We do our damndest to have fun.' As a young man he aspired to be an actor and did a few things in Hollywood.  When he told his mother that he wanted to be an actor she said, "Fine, but what are you going to do for a living?"  His parents' love of cooking drew him toward the culinary arts.  John graduated from California Culinary Academy in 1986 and bought his first computer ten years ago to write a cookbook.  It was then that he discovered streaming and launched his first cooking video in 1998.  Cheflive.com  is now a flourishing enterprise that will soon produce an ingredient based cooking series starring Jacques Vanstaden the Executive Chef at Alize` top of the Palms Casino owned by Andre Rochat and many other projects.

John Judge, Marketing Director of Cheflive.com , was also present.  He is a published author and in his words, 'a big time cooking fan.'  "If chefs had trading cards I would buy them," he says enthusiastically.

John had worked on other projects with Chef Guinivere who wisely recruited him earlier this year to join Cheflive.com  permanently.

Guests experienced 'Art in Action' as they watched Las Vegas artist Ruel James sketch his beautiful semi-nude model 'Taylor.' A painting of the sketch will be displayed during the November event at Gallery Las Vegas.  He has a broad range of talent from sculpting to oil painting.  "Lady Anne" is a must-see piece of sculpting, and guests had opportunity to meet his inspiration for that piece as Anne and other models mingled at the gathering.  Ruel's lovely wife Cheryl enjoyed giving a tour of his work to many of the guests including this reporter.

Beti Kristoff another local artist gave art tours and answered questions.  Beti's piece entitled 'Aquarius bouquet' has been featured in Lifestyles Magazine.  Her unique work can be found throughout Gallery Las Vegas.

Artist Donald Bucher from Miami Florida arrived with Ruth Brown and will be available for November's gala along with all the artists on display at Gallery Las Vegas.  I found his work to be very symmetrical and excellent for a man who picked up his first paint brush when he retired.

Siegfried Sasci of Siegfried Designs also has his distinctive tables on display.  A piece I found to be very interesting was entitled 'Hebrew' and is designed in the shape of the Hebrew letter el.  This particular piece simply draws one toward it and the energy surrounding it is very calming.

Gallery Las Vegas resident artist Eileen Stempin who studied with Emanuel Kramer displayed her water color work which is extremely detailed yet simple.  Nature lovers will enjoy her assortment of flowers and her understanding of art.

Of course a true cultural event would not be complete without an opera singer.  Our presence was graced with none other than Judy Moore who held a special concert here in Las Vegas last May.  I tried to tease her into singing for us again to no avail.  But there is always November.

Kudos to Cheflive.com  and Gallery Las Vegas  for making this evening such a successful event. The guests had a delightful time and we helped a worthy cause.
