MCDONALD’S SUPPORTS THE LAS VEGAS KiDS MARATHON

Las Vegas, NV (September 14, 2008) VEGAS BUZZ NEWS NETWORK – Students all over Las Vegas between the ages of 6 and 12 are currently in preparation for December 1st  when they will participate in the Las Vegas Kids Marathon. During this time students will be busy accumulating 40 kilometers, at school and on their own, in training for their final goal- crossing the finish line.

As a supporter of the marathon, local McDonald’s Owners/Operators are helping to encourage local students to reach numerous goals. Some of these goals include learning how to make exercising a daily habit, being prepared for the race and the final goal of finishing the race. While training for the marathon students will also be given the tools on how to continue with a healthy exercise routine even after the race.

“By practicing for the Kids Marathon, both in school and at home, students in Clark County are learning how to integrate exercising into their daily lives.” Said Tom Arlt, president of the McDonald’s Co-Op. “McDonald’s feels that to live a balanced, active lifestyle there must be a focus on two aspects-choosing to be physically active and making correct food choices.”

Students will also be encouraged on the day of the race with a visit from Ronald McDonald. Ronald will be in attendance at the beginning of the race to lead the warm-up and will remain until after the race to congratulate the over 1,000 local students as they complete the 2.194 kilometer long course.
